Left is a photo of Dru Lawson of The Hemp Trading Co. in West London, taken by THTC's designer, Bushra Sarker. Dru is standing in front of a field of hemp being harvested in Rochford, Essex on 4 August, 2006.
If you missed this one, September is full of hemp and related happenings, so make note of these dates:
7 September - Book signing for Hemp for Victory at Housmans, 5 Caledonian Road, London, N1. 6:30 pm.
9 September - Super Hemp Me wil be shown by Free Rob Cannabis in Glastonbury, phone # is 01458 835 769. This is a film he made about going on an all hemp diet! There will be music and other entertainment, hemp books and clothes for sale. Also that day, in London, the renowned Armerican theologian David Ray Griffin will be at Conway Hall in London to discuss his books, including The New Pearl Harbor, which has been plugged by hemp activist Woody Harrelson earlier this year in the Evening Standard. Conway Hall is in Red Lion Square, WC1R 1RL, doors open at 6:45, show at 7:30 pm. For tickest and information contact Andy Baker. If only one could be in both places at the same time!
10 September - 7 bands will be playing at Mass in Brixton, the former church on the main roundabout.
11 September - A demonstration will take place at noon outside the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square, at which a list of suggestions on how to live more peacefully will be handed in. Questions about what really happened on 9/11 will be discussed, as it has now emerged that even the US investigators and administration officials are stating openly and on record that they were lied to when compiling the 9/11 report. Maybe they ought to have read David Ray Griffin's book on the report, partly titled, Omissions and Distortions. It is a matter of respect to the victims that we elicit the truth and prevent further atrocities from occuring, so please do join us in what promises to be an historic event.
12 September - Open house day at BioRegional in Surrey. Hemp will be discussed at 4:30 pm.
BioRegional is the organisation which produced the hemp harvest depicted above.
14 September - Press party and book launch for Hemp for Victory at the Prince of Wales theatre, Coventry Street in Leicester Square, 11am-1pm. Journalists and reviewers will be given copies, refreshments served.
