(Just in from EcoBuild...) A pair of Passivhaus compliant dwellings will be constructed at Ecobuild next March. Register now for your free ticket. The two-storey dwellings will include room in the roof space and will each provide an internal floor area of 135sqm. The design of the units, by Miller Hughes Associates, will be taken from a live Passivhaus scheme of 38 units being built for Saxon Weald Housing Association in Horsham in January 2011, and use an advanced SIP system provided by members of the UK SIPS Association. Passivhaus experts will be on hand throughout the three days of Ecobuild to provide practical advice on achieving a highly insulated air tight building envelope, whilst demonstrating the other complementary technologies such as window systems, MVHR and low energy lighting solutions that are needed to achieve Passivhaus standards. And continuing the Passivhaus theme at next year’s Ecobuild, the Passivhaus pavilion, will give visitors the opportunity to meet some of Ecobuild’s 1,300 exhibitors and learn about the detailing and performance requirements involved in delivering Passivhaus dwellings in the UK.
