20 YEARS A' GROWING:
THE RETURN OF DR SHIVA
Last month Dr Vandana Shiva made another appearance in London, returning to Hampstead Town Hall to speak. Sagar Shah and I came along again, running into Carolyn Whittle of PositiveTV and environmental reporter Stanley Johnson, whose resemblance to his son Boris was hard to miss. A perhaps not irrelevant factoid in this is the fact that Boris is one quarter Indian, and so the family may have some interest in that part of the world. Boris, unlike some politicians, does not wear his own ethnic diversity on his sleeve.
The event was a celebration of Dr Shiva's 20 years with Zed Books, a left wing publishing house here in London. She was introduced by Patrick Holden of the Soil Association; this time we had a more amicable chat with him backstage, or rather, in front of the food table which is where most people gathered before the event; having a good caterer is always a plus, and the same people who were there with such an impressive array were on hand again. Speaking of food, Sagar and I gave a blueberry hempseed chocolate bar to Vandana, so she had some in hand to take back (if that is still permissible with our new aeroport security laws). It was one of the footlong monster bars that Roger Snow sent me from Rocky Mountain Grain Products in Canada, so it may well be touring the world; the hemp bar that went from Ontario to New York to London may well be on its way to New Delhi. Which could, of course, be seized upon by the airmiles pharisees who want to stop all airlifting of food - including some of the folks at the Soil Association. As this would only devastate the local economies of about 50 nations, eight charity groups banded together to tell the elitists that this just would not work; and good job they did. How many times in this world do overzealous do-gooders destroy things before we call an end to this? What would this do, for instance, to the mango/papaya/jute growers in India? Or are we supposed to grow these items somewhere in the UK? Even by the most outrageous global warming prediction we are simply not going to be able to do that, so we might as well not disrupt the livelihoods of millions of people for the likes of Tamsin Omond (whose antics at closing down aeroports might have kept Dr Shiva out of the country).
Conspicuously absent from the event were the biofuel opponents preaching global warming/cooling/climate change. As so many scientists are now eschewing this rubbish (see Marc Morano in the current issue of Nexus), they are no longer flavour of the month, and people are wondering why governments are giving away hard earned cash to idiots trading carbon credits as if it was a new dot.com stock. Dr Shiva touched on this in her speech, calling such trading tantamount to the indulgences the church was trading in the Middle Ages. She also touched on the options trading, which she called a "construct of a construct of a construct", and asserted really only came about in the '70s. It is now into the hundreds of billions of pounds she noted, and is part of the reason for the credit crunch. If there were any bankers at the meeting, this is when they slithered out the door. They may not have been feeling to comfortable, but a wider segment of the audience might also have felt slighted as she talked about cars; she herself does not own a car, and good on her! In India, she says, the percentage of car owners has not grown since the '50; cars are everywhere, due to both population increase and the fact that the same people who owned a car in the '50s now own five. One wonders if they are going to start using electric cars - ironically India is where the G Wiz, which is now so prominent in Hampstead and other parts of London, is produced.
In her time Dr Shiva has seen much change, but sadly, much of this is for the worse. We hope that she will be able to see some soon for the better, and with hemp in hand on her way back to India, this may well be the case. Thank you Dr. Shiva for your inspiration, we hope to see you again soon.

MI5 AND THE HEMP MOVEMENT

Years ago former MI5 officers Annie Machon and David Shayler poked their nose in the hemp movement, after poking their noses in the peace movement and, after becoming persone non grate there, poking their noses into the 9/11 Truth Movement. Sad to say they still haunt the latter on occasion; the anarchists in London have been writing lengthy articles to the effect that both are still active MI5 employess pretending to be whistleblowers so they can get inside lefty groups. Whatever the sordid truth, they were unwelcome in many quarters for very good reasons. In the hemp world, they went around to Tony's Hemp Corner, aka Tony's Holistic Centre at King's Cross and pestered the staff into giving David some cannabis tincture - £40 a bottle. One wondered where they got they dosh as neither of them seemed to do any work. Soon after I got sick of them too and told David off in the middle of his rant at the Indian YMCA in Fitzrovia; and soon after that, he decided that he was the Messiah. £40 worth of cannabis tincture may have played some part in that decision, but some, and perhaps the likes of Larry O'Hara in the anarchist camp, thought his delusional behaviour might have been only a ruse to discredit the 9/11 Truth Movement, which was foolish enough to put him forward at just about every meeting. Good job I distanced him from hemp, or he might be wearing some hemp as he parades pretending to be the Messiah or whatever - he has made multiple claims about his reincarnation and divinity. We really do not need such nutters. They seem to be a dime-a-dozen here now, what with the posh protesters led by Tamsin Omond, running around grabbing attention. Journalists love it, they do not have to spend time doing real research if they have a village full of idiots to report on. Useful idiots that is, as they deflect attention from real causes or infiltrate worthwhile movements to make them look stupid; send in the clowns is a mantra in some intel agencies when they need to take an organisation out by 'peaceful' means.

Monday I got an email from this messianic clown, in which he stated that he had used his authority as the Messiah to suspend the courts here in the UK. Rather unceremoniously, security twisted his arms behind his back and frogmarched out with an order not to return. His disciples, he told us, now have orders to disobey the law here. However many they may be, and some did not need an order from nutcase to do so. At the bottom of his email was an Amsterdam address, which confirmed information I had received about his whereabouts - it is said he is living it up at a posh pad in Amsterdam and actually has a following. Not surprising; Holland has a political party for paedophiles. In addition, a Londoner named Belinda Mackenzie, who was involved in a dodgy charity (£5m of its funds were illegally put into a personal account and the records of its revenues were burned before the police could investigate) has been known to help him out. Annie has been known to spend time in that part of the world with the 9/11 Truth Movement.

At least none of them are in the hemp movement. However, we would do well to prune out a few clowns of our own, from arrogant dope heads to know-it-all trendy types. Too often the press uses these figures as an excuse to ridicule the hemp movement, just as they use them to ridicule the 9/11 Truth Movement. I will not name names, but suffice to say we know who they are and it may be well to do unto them what the Court of Justice in London did to Shayler.

THE PLANT WHOSE STALK IS
NOT WORTH A BEAN
In this month's Ecologist, Pat Thomas dares to go where few journalists care to venture. She debunks the soya myth, which is like a central tenet in some kind of religion. Go to any vegan fair these days and you are being sold soya, soya and more soya. And where's the hemp at any of these? Hardly a single achene is to be found. Few seem to know or care about its Omega 3,6 and 9, or its high protein status, or its environmentally friendliness. The bottom line to these gurus is the dollar sign. Their greenness comes from the almighty greenback, the soya leaf their fig leaf; but their nakedness and ignorance cannot be hid from intelligent people.
Thomas is one who is not fooled by these do-gooders in cotton clothing. She points out fact after fact about this monocrop and leaves no doubt as to what is going on - even if the likes of Tamsin Osmond and her followers take over a church (St. Mary's in Primrose Hill) to preach the joy of soy. Like so many cults, it falls apart when facts are produced. Take, for instance, the claims about soya being healthy because people in the Orient eat it and are healthy. In some ways yes, but this is nothing but a generalisation. There are much higher rates of cancer, particularly cancer of the oeshophagus, stomach, liver and pancreas. And now, after decades of overkill, people in the West eat soya and are still unhealthy - even when we do not know it or want it. Soya has become ubiquitous, and iniquitous as well. For instance, it has found its way into infant formula milk, despite the reality that it contains isoflavenes, exposure to which may effect future fertility and reproductive development. A Harvard University study found that men who eat it have significantly lower sperm counts. Consumption of soya has led to more memory loss and cancer in our populations. And the production of soya is one of the major reasons for the loss of the rain forest. 90% of it is genetically modified.
So why are we eating it? Hype, and people want to follow hype, whether it is right wing warmongering or hippy trippy hype. Hype creates a movement, and subconsciously, people want to be part of a movement. Asking them to think makes them feel uncomfortable, and the leaders of the movement take advantage. Anyone with facts they try to exclude, as when Tamsin Omond's group Plane Stupid called the Ecologist to let them know they were not welcome to cover the campout at Heathrow last year. Little wonder that the Ecologist is becoming and entity non grata in some circles - perhaps a sign that they are doing something correct.
If you want a high protein, environmnetally friendly food that does not require processing at all and can be eaten raw, hemp is just the thing. And if you're in the UK, try some of the foods over at Yorkshire Hemp - www.yorkshire-hemp.com and see what your're missing.

Image above is Aimee Nathan, a student at North London Collegiate School who is an environmental activist. She, in contrast to the Tamsin Omond crowd, has got it right, and managed to get publicity without so much as breaking a single law. Her concern is the ubiquitous and iniquitous use of throw away coffee cups, so she simply brings her own to coffee shops. A simple act of genius that can change the way we live without anarchists and police getting involved. Speaking to People, she voices her lament as follows: "We take our environment for granted and waste too much, especially coffee cups. I hope we can show that doing a little thing can make a big difference." She has also organised flash mobs outside coffee shops, much better than grounding aeroports. A few flabbergasted shop assistants are the only casualties! She has also been on Channel 4's Battlefront, and has gained the support of Jodie Marsh. We will work on sending her a hemp bag in the future, and some hemp clothing.
Of course, if she wants to check out her own hemp supplies, here are some suggestions:

LINKS TO THE TAMSIN OMOND STORY
After my last post, I googled around and found lots of other bloggers with some very pertinent posts on the Plane Stupid saga of Tamin Omond. Here are a few for now, I will add to this later on. The press ought to stop wasting time making a Rosa Parks out of her, and start researching natural fibres and their role in cleaning up the environment. 2009 is the Year of Natural Fibres, so just maybe, some of these journos might get their heads out of the sand and give us some good stories. And if they want real info on these posh activists/rich kid anarchists, they might just take a look at the blogosphere and see what is written:

GAIA VINCE ON ENERGY
In the December issue of the New Scientist, there is an article about making our own electricity, mainly from the sun. Eric Pollitt of Global Hemp has been sending me similar information, mainly about large magnifying glasses, 1 metre across, which focus sunlight into heat, even in cold climates. But as usual, there is an army of journalists out there who don't want to know, so we go on using petrol based electricity.
This year the price of petrol has dropped dramatically, quite in relation to the drop in people's incomes. However, the utility companies did not see fit to pass on the savings to the consumers, until there was pressure from the government to do so. If we sourced our energy locally, we would not be at their mercy - and the behind-the-scenes option trading in energy prices would not be a good-ol'-boys' racket anymore. And, of course, we would have a cleaner planet, but then it might not be any fun any more for those die hard anarchist rich kid protesters we see too much of these days. They'd have to get real jobs, and I bet they are not about to get their hands dirty growing hemp or setting up solar power panels on the sides of their mansions. BTW, check out all the SUVs outside the church where Tamsin Omond hangs out in Primrose Hill, and you can see who and what was driving up the prive of petrol these last few years. They like to preach to everyone else about air miles and carbon trading (which is a tax scheme for governments to use to take our money), but do they install solar powered panels on the church or drive G-wiz electric cars? No way. Incidentally, some of those arrested in the Tamsin Omond camp were complaining that their bail conditions would not allow them to fly - after grounding Stansted aeroport, they whinge about not being able to fly home to their rich families.
We could all help save the planet by sending these rich kid protesters - designer demonstraters they are called - to a prison where they are forced to read real science, wear hemp, and work on solar powered, tidal powered, and ethanol based energy projects. If they were real philanthropists, they would not mind having their family wealth confiscated and put into the public use. Now that is real progress, comrade.

ANARCHY IN THE UK
This weekend a friend is staying with me in London before he heads out to Stansted aeroport to catch a flight to Estonia. However, he is taking a chance of having his holidays ruined by spoilt brat rich kids and hooligans who like to get attention by protesting, even when their protest is just ruining people's travels plans. Earlier this month the aptly named Plane Stupid brought 57 people to break the law at Stansted, and brought in turn 52 flights to a standstill. The BBC joked that this was unproductive, as it only takes one person with a bottle of water or other mundane item to bring on a security alert; if Plane Stupid wanted to really wreak havoc, they ought to get jobs as baggage handlers, the presenters joked.
Some questions that arise are: where are the undercover moles to tip off the authorities when Tamsin Omond decides to pull these attention getting stunts and mess up people's travel? Does MI5 or Special Branch not have an eye on these idiots? How were they so easily able to breach aeroport security in this age of uber security?
Tamsin Omond, the scion of one of the richest land owning families in England, seems able to disrupt other people's lives at her whim. And to make it worse, she has the support of the perverts at St. Mary's Church in Primrose Hill, where she has been made church administrator - despite concerns that she is into young girls. But this is the Church of England, where the likes of George Glover, a vicar friend of Tony Blair, rape 11-year-olds, so concerns about this rich brat grooming young girls for her bondage games go unheard. The local curate himself told me that the Bible is not what they go by in that church, so what is their law? Anarchy? Plutocracy?
So no surprise that basic science and the law of the land are not listened to by the Tamsin Omond crowd - do not expect them to wear hemp or use hemp based diesel or ethanol - these are not just attention getting stunts, they are real moves that are based on scientific facts. Hemp activists do not get the attention Plane Stupid does - we do not disrupt aeroports or disrespect the house of worship of any faith.
Real environmental activism does not need to be drama; it is best to have millions of people calmly and methodically working on real objectives. Stay clear of these clowns. Support your local hemp shops, or use a hemp bag next time you shop. By the way, I love doing this, I still have the one I got from Bobby Pugh of The Hemp Shop almost two years ago, the one that says: "Real Eco Bags are made from Hemp." This turns heads everywhere, from Bond Street to Primrose Hill, and people get the message without being stranded at an aeroport by selfish brats.

PLANE STUPID TALK AT ST. MARY THE VIRGIN
Image left is Tobias Kendall of Oxford, aka Ken Tobias, who got kicked out of Plane Stupid last month when Tamsin Omond of Cambridge outed him dramatically. Allegedly, he was working for C2i, a spook firm that must have some pretty low recruiting standards. Are they the ones behind Rachel North and David Shayler, both of whom claim they are not working for MI5? Maybe a double bluff on their part, but as to Kendall, er, um Tobias, his bluff got called. What made Omond see through it so easily? Was it the Armani jeans, or was it the fact that Omond is from Trinity College, a known recruitment ground for spooks and would know one when she saw one? Many of the Trinity crowd were sex addicts who betrayed their country to the Russians in the '30, '40s, '50s, '60s and whenever else they could get away with it; much of which was noted in the famous and suppressed book, Spycatcher.
The present day Trinity College alumnus was on hand last night at an event at St. Mary the Virgin in Primrose Hill, where the merchants of soya were on hand to sell their product. Somehow the vicar there must have forgotten that 2,000 years ago someone drove the merchants out of the church, but then again, there are a lot of vicars who have forgotten that the same person also said: "better a millstone tied around the neck of a person than they should hurt the little ones". Maybe the vicar was off at a sex shop, where the Tamsin Omond crowd can be found when not preaching to us or getting into trouble with the police or hasssling members of the general public at the Natural History Museum.
So, with the vicar away, the mice could play with people's minds and promote soya, a plant which is now one of the biggest problems facing the world today. Try telling this to Nigel Winter of the Vegan Society or the folks at Slow Foods London, and you just get a cold stare. Tamsin Omond then comes over to show her ignorance, and there is little one informed person can do against them, even if in the House of God, which they seem to have taken over.
And with the power and money behind Tamsin, one is not surprised. Her grandfather is none other than Sir Thomas Lees, who owns a good deal of land in the proserous South England county of Dorest, once a hemp growing and processing capital of the realm. Her father is a rich banker. She herself hangs out with l'ecume de l'ecume, having matriculated at some very expensive spots for rich kids, the kind who have money for both sex shops and the church.
But apparently, not much brains, or they would have known about hemp, and not used the House of God for a promo on soya, adding to the misery of poor farmers in Brazil, who are seeing more and more land cleared for this monocrop.
The irony is that the very people behind this misery are acting like eco-warrriors, running around in trendy spots talking about saving the planet, along with the dodgy people who forced palm oil plantations on the Indonesians and jatropha on the Indians (see previous post on this).
They are now threatening to force us to use more oil, which is set to rise to $200 a barrel (not so long ago it was $30). What they do is bash all biofuels, either directly, or by getting into the game and giving biofuels a bad name with their stupid ideas. Without biofuels, we are dependent on one fuel, and guess what, the price of that one fuel goes up.
Thus it is intelligent analysis to suspect that the rich kid bondage toy church attending crowd from Trinity College may just be the progeny of the pampered traitors at MI5, and that the game is to infiltrate environmental groups and stifle debate about biofuels. One easy way to do this is to write about it, then dissuade the public from taking action. Perhaps an example of this can be found in yesterday's Guardian, where the double barrelled Duncan Graham-Rowe mentions Henry Ford and his production of ethanol, but then talks only about rapeseed and maize (corn). Further, he warns against using up agricultural land for biofuels, but not a word about waste cellulose, such as stems, unwanted bark and other parts of the plant not used for food or fibre. This is crucial to the debate, and what is devious on the part of so many of the glorified debaters given space in the church and the media, is that they leave out the CRUCIAL part of the debate, entering at large celverly on some PART of the debate so as to push their agenda, which, dangerously, leads us back to petrol dependency, cotton usage, and soya consumption. By keeping us on petrol, major players in the options market can make a killing - literally - and they can well afford to pay people like Tasmin Omond to carry out this subterfuge.
But then again, this analyis may be rebutted by those who think that Tamsin Omond and crew are just 'plane stupid'.
And maybe they are. Whichever the case, treachery or stupidity, we cannnot afford to let this self congratulatory and trendy crowd ruin our lives with their mistakes. They are very self-centred gatekeepers with huge influence in the press, it is like they have hijacked a plane and we need the rational to storm the cockpit and get it back on the correct course.
Let's roll.
